FAO Year 1 Weekly Roundup 06/12/246 December 2024 (by Ellie Gath (Ellie Gath)) |
Hi Year 1,
This week we performed our Christmas Nativity play and the children did a brilliant job learning their lines, singing beautifully and bringing the story to life. They all seemed to thoroughly enjoy being a part of it. Thank you for all your support in helping the children learn their lines and bringing in what was needed. We hope you loved watching it as much as we have loved putting it all together :)
In English the children have been very enthusiastic with our new topic focusing on instruction writing based on the recipe book 'Gruffalo Crumble' and were very excited when they found out we were making jam sandwiches on Monday morning! We practised sequencing the order of instructions, followed by writing down instructions needed in their recipes and what ingredients and equipment we needed. This was also followed by understanding how to write an invitation to the Gruffalo's party where all these treats would be enjoyed.
In Maths we have been focusing on the terminology of 'one more than or one less than' as well as 'greater than/less than/equals' with numbers up to 20.
In PSHE we had a circle time talking about the importance of washing hands, using glitter to show how much germs can spread between each other.
We also did History this week thinking about what things change over time and what might stay the same, and decided what we would put in our own time capsules.
Hope you all have a lovely long weekend!
Miss Gath :)
