FAO: Reception to Year 6 Classes : Sports Week

1 July 2025 (by Amy Salsbury (admin))

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Sports Week 14 th and 16 th July

Saffron Green are ending the term with two days of exciting sports activities. For this we will need the children to come into school wearing their school PE kit and trainers every day. Please take into account the weather during these two days and ensure that your child has sun cream, a sun hat and dresses appropriately. All children must have a water bottle.

Sports Day – Tuesday 15 th July

Children will be in their house teams and should wear a T-shirt of that colour, black shorts or joggers and trainers. Sports Day will start with a carousel of activities during the morning and then running races in the afternoon. Parents are welcome to come and join their children from 12noon for a family picnic and afternoon races.

12:00-12:40pm will be a picnic lunch. There will not be any hot school dinner meals served on this day. Children who are entitled to free school meals or universal infant free school meals will have a packed lunch provided. If you would rather supply your own, please email your child's class teacher.

There will be hotdogs, drinks and ice creams available to be purchased from the school field during the picnic lunch.

12.45pm will be the approximate start of the competitive races; each class will take part in running races. Parents will also be invited to take part in a men’s or women’s running race.

Parents will be able to take their children home by collecting them from their classrooms when Sports Day is finished. We ask parents that during the competitive races that they do not encourage their children to leave their Teacher/TA to see them or siblings/family as this makes it very hard for Teachers/TAs to know where each child is and keep all the children safe.

Let’s hope the weather stays nice for our sports week and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 15th July for Sports Day.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Mrs Hetherington
